Appeal Court Affirms Baruwa As NURTW National President
November 16, (THEWILL) – The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has declared Tajudeen Baruwa as the legally recognised President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.
A three-member panel of Justices of the court including Hamma Akawu Barka, Nnamdi Dimgba, and Asmau Ojuolape Akanbi, in a unanimous decision on November 8, declared Baruwa as the legally elected president of the union.
The court upheld the judgement of the National Industrial Court delivered on March 11, 2024, in respect of Suit No.
NICN/ABJ/263/2023, which declared Baruwa as NURTW president.
It declared the appeal filed by Najeem Yasin, Tajudeen Agbede, and others challenging the decision of the Industrial Court that recognised Baruwa as president, as lacking merit.
Consequently, the appellate court awarded the sum of N100,000 against the appellants in favour of the respondents.
